Dave has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, with applied experience in the piping trade, project management, and estimating. Dave became the owner and CEO of Midstate Mechanical in 1990, and since then has expanded Midstate from a small family business to one of the largest mechanical contractors in Arizona. He is an influential leader with an intrinsic talent for conceptualizing and communicating vision.
In January of 2022, the senior leadership team of Midstate Mechanical partnered with Kassel Mechanical, LLC based in Columbus, Ohio. Midstate and Kassel are engaged in providing full-service mechanical contracting services specializing in commercial and industrial projects. With this transition Dave moved from President and CEO of Midstate Mechanical to Chairman of the Board.
As Chairman of the Board, Dave continues to direct the company’s strategic efforts, analyzing markets, regions, and services. He has crafted a corporate vision that, coupled with his leadership strategy, has accelerated the growth of the company to a prominent status among mechanical contractors in Arizona.
Dave actively participates in a wide variety of civic and charitable endeavors, such as Make-A-Wish, and has served as the President of ACCA-AZ (MTCAZ) and as a member of the Advisory Board for Irwin Union Bank.
Bob joined Midstate Mechanical in September of 2008 as a Project Manager, and was promoted to President in January of 2023. Bob has over 22 years of experience in the mechanical industry.
In 2004, Bob officially launched his contracting career in Phoenix while attending Del E Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University. He started in sales and engineering support, and with his training and varied background, Bob has gained a unique advantage in many aspects of construction management. He has strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, which will lead the development and execution of the company’s strategies and business plans moving forward.
Bob’s primary goal is to continue to deliver high quality projects for all Midstate Mechanical clients. He actively participates in a variety of associations and committees, such as AASBO, ABA, ASA, ASHRAE and CASHE.
Evan manages the estimating platform and process, including management of historical cost information utilized to provide timely and current budgeting information to our clients. He is active in gathering and tracking all cost information continually processed as part of Midstate’s bidding procedures for each specific project.
Overseeing the day-to-operations of the estimating team, Evan provides leadership and mentoring. Other duties include client tracking, enhancing client relationships, maintaining a database for accuracy and competitive estimates, and tracking local and out-of-area construction costs and trends. His deep involvement across all Midstate projects enables our team to share the most current and accurate cost information and trends available across all of the various product/system types.
Evan has learned our operations from the ground-up, working in several major roles. He has served as a junior and senior estimator, bidding on major projects for the new construction division. As part of the executive committee, he participates in the forecasting and strategic planning for the company. Evan attended Gateway College, receiving his Associates in Applied Science, Commercial and Industrial Air Conditioning Facilities.
Mark joined Midstate Mechanical in September of 2021. He has over 25 years of accounting and leadership experience in multiple industries, such as retail, manufacturing, and distribution, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Central Michigan University. He is responsible for Accounting and Finance, Human Resource and Safety functions.
Mark is directly involved with all financial activities of the company, including managing company relationships with banks, insurance brokers, and CPA firms. His development of financial reporting and performance metrics are designed to measure growth and spending. He is instrumental in progressing the company through long term strategies.
Jason joined the Midstate team in October of 2019 as the General Manager of Special Projects, Warranty and Service. In March of 2023, Jason was promoted to Vice President of Operations and now oversees all aspects of Midstate’s projects, including labor costs, indirect costs, expenses, material and equipment costs, contract reviews, manpower projections, change order monitoring, and project profitability.
Jason has extensive industry experience and brings over 30 years of servicing and installing different types of chillers, towers, boilers, and package units to the company. A graduate of the Arizona Military Institute, he began his career in the industry at age 18 as the onsite Refrigeration Technician in cold storage facilities in the West Phoenix area before transitioning into the Service and Small Project side with HVAC contractors. To this day, Jason is extremely dedicated and committed to completing all projects on-time and within budget.
Erik has over 22 years’ experience in the mechanical & plumbing industry. He has been with Midstate Mechanical for 13 years.
Erik has defined his career path through hard work and dedication, starting his rise through the ranks as an apprentice plumber journeyman, plumbing foreman, estimator, and projects manager.
He has extensive experience with commercial plumbing, having handled all aspects of projects from general contracts, purchase/change orders, process reports, budgets, RFI’s, and hands-on installation.
Erik is currently responsible for the overall growth, management, safety, and supervision of all projects in the Southwest region of Arizona. He has extensive project management and field experience in various facets of prefabrication, plumbing, new construction, equipment, HVAC installations, and renovations. His knowledge and expertise have projects completed safely, on schedule and within budget!
Jon joined the Midstate Team in March of 2023 as the Director of Preconstruction for Midstate Mechanical, LLC. In this capacity he is responsible for preconstruction on all alternate delivery method projects, early project planning and prefabrication. Jon’s past experiences makes him an asset on each project.
Jon started in the HVAC industry in 1993 working in clean rooms installing, testing and certifying systems in various semiconductor facilities around the country. In 1995 Jon branched out and began working on the Test & Balance side of HVAC, becoming a certified TBE in 2003. While in this role Jon worked in several different types of construction, but the bulk of his time was spent working in semiconductor, healthcare and laboratory facilities in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and Iowa.
In 2006 Jon moved to the General Contractor side of the Construction Industry at MEP/Area Superintendent. In this role Jon was responsible for the overseeing of HVAC, Electrical, Fire Protection and Plumbing trades in hospitals around the Phoenix area. In 2011 Jon was promoted to a General Superintendent role responsible for the planning and execution of the overall project where he worked on multiple hospitals and laboratories in AZ and New Mexico.
In 2019 Jon moved to a Senior Superintendent working in a Preconstruction role responsible for planning & scheduling multiple projects while working with architects, engineers and owners on IPD projects assisting with overall design review & constructability with a heavy focus on MEP trades for multiple healthcare and laboratory projects including some expansion and renovation projects. While in the preconstruction role Jon was also responsible for assisting with planning startup & commissioning activities for larger projects, helping teams develop schedules, create & maintain issues logs and assisting with technical issues while finalizing and closing out projects.
